We offer the opportunity to those with and without academic qualification to gain an honourable profession, thereby assisting them to become self-reliant and productive individuals.

The Leon School of Beauty Culture was founded in 1940 by Mrs Rose Leon and her husband Arthur. The school staged their first graduation exercises of eight (8) students at the then prestigious Bournemouth Club in September 1940. Since that time the annual graduation exercises of the Leon School of Beauty Culture is an eagerly awaited social event.

Leon’s has had the pleasure of training students from all parts of the world including Holland, Sri Lanka, United Kingdom, Canada, United States of America, Panama, Haiti and the Eastern Caribbean. The school has outgrown several premises. We were first located in rented premises at 64 Barry Street in the parish of Kingston (1940-1943) then we acquired land at 63 Barry Street, and constructed a moderate size two storey building.

The school continued to progress and so we acquired an old two storey building at 38 Hanover Street (formerly Harding’s Printery) which we completely renovated and added another floor which gave us ample space.

Created For You

After a fire at our previous premises, we kept looking forward to greater improvement as we acquired 7 Lady Musgrave Road in the parish of St. Andrew on which two additional buildings were constructed for our permanent offices and school. We have been blessed with a very loyal and dedicated office staff. All our Instructors are past graduates of our school, and a more dedicated team is hard to find. Our ancillary staff are also steady, efficient and loyal.

Student - Leon's School Of Beauty Culture

The Leon School of Beauty Culture has for many years awarded two free scholarships to deserving students who show an aptitude for cosmetology.
Among these recipients is the Lister Mair Gilby School for the Deaf, The Musgrave Girls Home, Oberlin High School, Mary’s Child and as far as we know the results have been very gratifying indeed. The management of the Leon School of Beauty Culture is now in the very capable hands of Mrs Gloria Millwood, a Justice of the Peace for the parish of St. Andrew, and daughter of Mrs Rose Leon founder of the school.
